Legendary Liverpool player Graeme Souness has taken aim at Reds sensation Mohamed Salah following his public spat with Klopp during the team’s 2-2 draw with West Ham.
The Liverpool team’s title ambitions were severely damaged by their last-minute tie with West Ham, which was overshadowed by a confrontation between Salah and Klopp on the touchline. Salah was seen disagreeing with Klopp after Salah’s second-half introduction after the winger declined the German manager’s traditional hug and handshake. The Egyptian has now been called “the most selfish player” by Souness, who thinks the 31-year-old will probably leaving Anfield this season summer.
WHAT SOUNESS SAID
The 70-year-old added, “I think Mohamed Salah is off and leaving Liverpool,” in an interview with William Hill. Although he has been fantastic for Liverpool, he will become the biggest star in that region of the world if he moves to the Saudi Pro League. He probably thinks highly of himself, so it’s understandable that he was upset that he didn’t start the match against West Ham last week. It was more Salah than it was Klopp in the conflict, and I believe that the scenario involving Jurgen Klopp was a response to just being brought on with ten minutes remaining.
“Salah is the most selfish player I have ever witnessed. Even prior to that game, whenever Klopp takes him off, he is never happy about it. That is what you want from your players, if you take them off on two goals, they should want to stay on to score a third. When Sadio Mane was there they’d fall out all the time.
“Salah has been world-class in his time at Liverpool. Goals change games and his goals have had an enormous influence on Liverpool since he’s been at the club. I think he still gets into the Arsenal team and certainly would’ve gotten into the Manchester City team over the past five years.”
