In the public eye, Chef Smith has expressed regret to Ghanaians for falsifying his Guinness World Record certificate.
Chef Smith declared himself the current Longest Cooking Marathon record holder at a news conference earlier this week.
He proudly showed off a Guinness World Records certificate, which turned out to be a fake.
Guinness World Records explained the problem in an official answer email, saying: “No, this is not true at all. He does not hold the GWR title, and that is not our certificate. The current and true record holder is: The longest cooking marathon (individual) is 119 hr 57 min 16 sec and was achieved by Alan Fisher (Ireland) in Matsue, Shimane, Japan, from 28 September to 3 October 2023.”

Chef Smith apologized to Ghanaians in a recent interview with GHOne TV, breaking down in tears.
Chef Smith of Ghana “does not hold the GWR title,” according to Guinness World Records, and his certificate is not authentic.
He claimed that his acts were just a survival strategy and that he had no intention of embarrassing the country in public.
“I render a very big apology on this big platform and I apologise to the world that I’m so sorry. I don’t deserve to live, but because of the little I will eat, I have found myself in this situation. I am sorry and I am begging the entire nation to forgive me,”
With tears in her eyes, Chef Smith said.

Leticia Martekie Sankah, his assistant, also apologized to Ghanaians in public earlier today when it was discovered that the chef had falsified his Guinness World Record certificate.
She felt she was helping a buddy who was really trying to pull off an incredible achievement and show off her own culinary abilities.
She accepted full responsibility for her involvement in the incident and acknowledged that her actions had unintentionally contributed to the state of affairs.
