Report assertions made recently that Chef Smith, the Ghanaian culinary master, broke a global record for cook-a-thons have drawn endless criticism.
This is because, according to a recent revelation, Guinness World Records (GWR) has revealed that, in order to be recognized, they did not receive any formal application or proof of his eight hundred hours of cooking.
During a program, TV3 anchor Adwoa Noella brought attention to the disparities and disclosed that other media outlets contacted GWR to confirm the veracity of Chef Smith’s claim of breaking records.
“We tried to find out the authenticity because, once again, we want to see it on the Guinness World Record page, so a few media houses wrote to verify and ask a few questions to ascertain whether it is true or not,” Noella explained.
Significant concerns were raised by GWR’s comments.Noella stated on the TV3 program that pulse.com.gh was watching, “First of all, he didn’t even apply in the first place; they didn’t have any receipt of him making an application to say he wants to take on this challenge.”
Moreover, the credential that Chef Smith allegedly gave has been questioned.”Secondly, they are not the source of the certificate. They have no idea of what is happening. Alan Fisher still holds the record as of right now,” Noella said.
The fact that GWR has not yet acknowledged or validated Chef Smith’s cook-a-thon attempt raises even more questions about the veracity of his stated accomplishment. Alan Fisher continues to hold the existing record, as verified by GWR.
