The National Sports Authority (NSA) has relieved Professor Peter Twumasi of his Director General responsibilities.
Mr. Dodzie Numekevor has been named the Authority’s Acting Director General in his place.
On February 26, 2024, Secretary to President Nana Bediatuo Asante officially appointed Dodzie Numekevor, subject to his acceptance within a 14-day period.
On December 10, 2019, Prof. Twumasi took over as Director General, replacing Robert Sarfo Mensah, who had resigned due to accusations arising from the “number 12” exposé published by Anas Aremeyaw Anas and Tiger Eye PI.

Football fans have been calling for Prof. Twumasi’s removal for a long time because of his handling of Ghana’s stadiums, which has come under fire during his tenure.
Prof. Twumasi’s political career recently took a hit when, with just 7 votes in the Ahafo Ano South West constituency, he was unable to win the nomination to run as a parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 Parliamentary Elections.
