Head coach of Kpando Heart of Lions, Bashir Hayford, has established a stellar record against Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, the dominant team in the Ghana Premier League, after leading Lions to victory over Kotoko.
In the first match of the second round of the Ghana Premier League for 2023–2024, Lions defeated Kotoko 1-0, with a close-range finish from Godfred Kwadwo Asamoah sealing the victory.
Speaking following the match, the seasoned strategist highlighted his impressive record of victories against Kotoko with various teams over the years.
“I have been coaching other teams meeting Kotoko and I don’t think they have been a problem for me. When I took up for Kessben, Medeama, AshantiGold, there was no problem so I told them (Lions players), Kotoko, the name is big but they should not fear them.”

“I psyched them. I told them yes, Kotoko is one of the biggest teams in Africa but it doesn’t mean you can also not be able to play them.”
In action for Kpando Heart of Lions against Kotoko is Godfred Kwadwo Asamoah. The Lions’ victory over Kotoko is their third of the season.
