Ghanaian blogger Sammy Kay, also known as Samuel Dortey Kumah, has been detained and turned over to the Ghana Police Service’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
The arrest is connected to claims of sexually explicit picture publication and the unauthorized use of photos of a Cyber Security Authority officer.
A sexually graphic film showing socialite Abena Korkor went viral last week. Abena Korkor accused two people of being behind the video and blamed a security official with the Ghana Police Service’s cybercrime branch.
Another sexually graphic film was posted on social media on Wednesday morning (November 15, 2023), with a tag attributing it to the previously stated security officer.
According to reports, Sammy Kay uploaded the obscene photographs and linked them to images of Cyber Security Authority (CSA) officials.
In response, the CSA released a news statement clarifying the circumstances surrounding Sammy Kay’s arrest, noting that his acts constituted the “unlawful use of images of Cyber Security Authority (CSA) officials.”
The CSA explained that labeling photos with explicit content constituted a deception and illegal attribution, and it distanced itself from such acts.
Sammy Kay then withdrew the photograph in question from Instagram and apologized, expressing remorse for the previous post and admitting the error in connecting the images.
