The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has expressed his resolve to delivering economic stability to Ghana if won in the 2024 general elections.During a Trades Union Congress (TUC) manifesto presentation, Mahama stressed his intention to execute practical economic policies aimed at reducing public debt, managing inflation, and limiting the central bank’s support of the government via the Bank of Ghana.
Mahama emphasized the importance of halting the country’s economic downturn and restoring financial stability. He stated his commitment to reducing the inflationary pressures that have undermined the income of Ghanaians and working people.

“There must be an end to this decline and the restoration of stability to the economy so that Ghanaian citizens and working people can brief a sigh of relief and not have their already inadequate income eroded by inflationary pressures.“In the last few years, I have been outlining policies that the NDC will implement and the aim is to stop the steep decline in the economy, turn it around and stabilise it.”
Furthermore, Mahama promised to adopt strict measures to protect workers’ rights, demonstrating his dedication to the welfare and well-being of the labor force.Dr. Yaw Baah, Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress, pushed for a comprehensive assessment of the macroeconomic policy framework in parallel with Mahama’s guarantees. He stated that such a review would strive to create jobs, provide food security, handle housing requirements, and protect workers’ rights, all in order to improve Ghana’s entire socioeconomic landscape.
