Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) prospective presidential candidate, has promised party delegates that if chosen to serve as the party’s flagbearer, he will prevail in the 2024 election.
He presented himself as an assured, fearless, and seasoned contender who could easily defeat National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Mr. John Dramani Mahama.

“I assure delegates that I will defeat John Mahama hands down in the general election if elected to lead the NPP.”

The presidential contender stated that if delegates chose him to lead, he could achieve his goal of making Ghana strong and magnificent, as the National Anthem emphasized, regardless of his political connections.

At the Cape Coast chapel square, where he addressed delegates, party loyal supporters, and sympathizers following one of his “showdown walks” across the main streets in the Metropolis, Mr. Agyapong provided the guarantee.
He claimed to be a man of integrity, unity, patriotism, discipline, and honesty who would unite the grassroots to support the party’s 2024 win.
The member of parliament for Assin Central advised the delegates to be brave and firm in their refusal to yield to any pressure that could sway their votes rather than to be intimidated by anybody.

“Don’t be intimidated by anyone. You make the Jubilee House, so don’t allow anyone to influence your vote. Resist or give them a showdown,”

He further said
Mr. Agyapong urged them to back him because, in the event that he lost the delegates’ conference on Saturday, November 4, Ghanaians would not vote for the NPP.
The presidential candidate threatened to oppose any efforts to tamper with the results unless the Police Service and the Electoral Commission ensured free and fair elections.
Regarding his aspirations, he promised to use the Central Region’s tourism potential to change it by making sure the forts and castle are managed well, among other things.

Mr. Agyapong declared that in order to develop the nation, his administration will put policies and interventions into place, especially in the areas of natural resources and industry.
He pledged that the welfare of the Ghanaian people will always come first and listed the many achievements he has made to the party, spanning from the time of former President Kufuor to the present.
Many individuals from all walks of life and political persuasions who thought the nation needed him for progress were drawn to the showdown walk.
