The first female singer from the Nigerian music business to win a Grammy award is a Nigerian international singing sensation.She earned the Grammy for her role in Future’s ‘Wait For U,’ which won Best Melodic Rap Performance on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at the 65th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

Tems was nominated for three categories at the 2023 Grammys scoring two for Best rap song and Best melodic rap performance for Future’s ‘Wait For U’ and as a featured artist on Beyonce’s Album of the year contender ‘Renaissance’.
Tems is the first female singer from the Nigerian music business to win a Grammy for her song ‘Wait For U,’ which she won with.
She is only the third Nigerian woman to win a Grammy, following Sade Adu, who won for Best New Artist in 1986, and Cynthia Erivo, who won for Best Pop Vocal Album in 2017.
