From August 1 to August 3, 2024, the Electoral Commission will conduct a mop-up voter registration campaign.
The commission states that the purpose of the mop-up effort is to provide a means of identification for individuals who turned 18 after the limited voter registration period and for those who did not participate in the registration process.
In addition, the commission has scheduled a voter exhibition for August 20–27.
When the Election Security Taskforce, headed by Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akuffu Dampare, visited the commission to inform them on the election security performance in the first half of the year, Jean Mensa, the chairperson of the electoral commission, made this known.
“I would like to put on record that the mop-up of the voter registration exercise will take place from August 1–3, 2024, and it is to afford persons who turned 18 after May 29 or persons who have not previously registered the opportunity to get onto our register; this goes to persons who are eligible,” she stated.
