The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer and former president of Ghana, Kwaku Manu, has revealed how several prominent figures in the creative arts sector received cars as gifts from John Dramani Mahama.
Mahama’s goal in office was to help people in the creative arts industry by giving them free means of expanding their enterprises.
Manu, however, disclosed that he turned down the offer since he thought the car was “too small,” which made him lose interest.
Rather, he asked that the car be donated to his coworkers so they could use it to help them in their pursuits as they didn’t own any cars.
Kwaku Manu gave the following explanation for his choice to turn down the offer: “I didn’t see the other people’s cars, but the car they were offering me was too little. I requested that they provide the car to my other coworkers who were completely without one.”
He elaborated that the government considered giving actors automobiles while John Mahama was president.
“People are unaware of my political affiliation,” Manu emphasized, adding, “Some individuals were pressured into claiming NDC membership to receive a vehicle, but this was not the case. This is partly why governments struggle to support the creative arts industry.”
