Dumsor: The ECG MD says there isn’t load shedding in Ghana.

1 Min Read

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has reaffirmed that there aren’t any “dumsor,” or blackouts, happening in the nation right now.The ECG states that load shedding is not occurring at the moment, despite certain reports claiming otherwise.Requests for a load-shedding schedule have not been met since the energy distributor, according to the ECG and Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, is not shedding load.

Following a meeting with the Mines and Energy Committee of Parliament, Samuel Dubik Mahama, the Managing Director of ECG, informed journalists that the issues with the transformers had been resolved. Previously, the company had claimed that the power outages were caused by about 630 of its overloaded transformers.

“The assurance is that we are doing our best. The lights are going to stay on. Most of the transformers that we spoke about and the intensification exercises are almost done.

“So we should just stay positive. There will be a proper statement as to the way forward. We are currently not shedding load. So we are not shedding load.”
