Pastor Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, a well-known evangelist from Worldwide Miracle Outreach and a Ghanaian pastor, has voiced his extreme dislike of pastors who predict presidential elections.
Dr. Tetteh expressed his disdain of this practice during an appearance on TV3’s The Day Show, stressing that pastors had to abstain from making political predictions.
Speaking candidly about his own lack of presidential aspirations, Dr. Tetteh said during the interview,
“I feel sad for the President. It is a headache. No, never!”
“… I am totally against pastors who will stand on their pulpit and declare who is going to become a President,”
He stated that he is vehemently against preachers using their platforms to predict the next President.
In Ghanaian society, the practice of pastors making predictions regarding presidential elections has grown more prevalent and frequently sparks disagreement and controversy. Dr. Tetteh, however, feels that such direct involvement of pastors in political affairs is unacceptable.
Rather, he suggests that pastors should concentrate on their spiritual responsibilities and abstain from forecasting political developments.
Dr. Tetteh contends that pastors ought to focus more on sharing the gospel and providing spiritual direction to their flocks than on getting involved in politics.
He feels that rather than getting involved in political activity, pastors should work to foster harmony, peace, and spiritual development in their communities.
