Albert Alalzuuga Akuka, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Upper East Region’s Garu Constituency, is requesting recompense for locals who he claims were subjected to military abuses on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
According to reports, a group of military soldiers raided Garu early in the morning and attacked the locals.
The Ghanaian Armed Forces had defended the raid by claiming that local youngsters who were angry had attacked national security agents first.
On the other hand, a number of photos that went viral on social media following the event depict injuries such as punches, swollen cheeks, and whip marks on bodies.

The Garu MP, who discussed the event with Citi News, asked the government to make sure that victims receive fair compensation in addition to carrying out a comprehensive inquiry.
“All these are things the government needs to investigate and come out with a good report on, and possibly compensate the victims for the injuries they have suffered. They should take care of their bills,”
