NPP is not in a good position to retain power in 2024, according to polls – Afriyie Akoto

Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer candidate, has expressed concern over the party’s prospects in the forthcoming 2024 election.
He feels that the NPP is currently at risk of losing the election due to low morale among its core followers.
Dr. Afriyie Akoto made the remarks during a media interview in Kumasi, where he is on a tour ahead of the delegates’ meeting on November 4th.
He noted that the current poor morale among NPP activists across the country, who had hoped for a better quality of life, suggests that the party may not be in a position to break the eight.
“It is clear to me that morale is very low. The expectation of our activists around the country for a better life has not been realised so the NPP is not in a good place to contest to retain power next year and we have to address this issue seriously.”

In an appeal to party delegates, he asked them to make their votes count by choosing him as party leader on November 4th.
Dr. Afriyie Akoto underlined that the NPP’s welfare and development are inextricably related to his leadership, noting his profound awareness of ground-level difficulties gained as a Member of Parliament in Kwadaso, Kumasi.

“Anybody who aspires to bear the flag of the NPP, that should be the priority. I have a very clear understanding of the problems on the ground, I have been a member of Parliament at Kwadaso so I understand the concerns expressed by activists on the ground.”
