A man accused of murdering a businesswoman in Kumasi was also found guilty of stealing.

Allister John, the key suspect in the death of the 35-year-old businesswoman at Sokoban, has been convicted on two charges of stealing from Gloria Morrison, another businesswoman and resident of Bantama in the Ashanti Region’s Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
In a case before the Asokwa Circuit Court, he was charged with stealing a cell phone valued 4,000 Ghana cedis and GH167,666 in cash from the plaintiff.

According to the police, Allister John worked as a receptionist with the complaint at a Bantama hotel in 2022, but quit and later returned to the facility in July 2023.
When the complainant was re-hired at the hotel, she asked Allister John to assist her alter her phone’s settings, but he escaped with the phone.

He later accessed the phone and used the mobile app to withdraw GH167,666 from the complainant’s bank account.
On Friday, October 6, 2023, the verdict for the two charges will be read aloud at Asokwa District Court.
