The Ghana Police Service has assured that it is sufficiently prepared and has enough contingents to deploy for tomorrow’s, Tuesday, October 3 #OccupyBoGProtest.
At a news conference held at the Police Headquarters in preparation for the protest, Assistant Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of the Police Public Affairs Directorate, stated that the police had fully prepared and trained for the protest.
“We have an adequate number of police officers for tomorrow’s demonstration and I will want to urge every member of the public that wants to come for the protest to show up tomorrow because we have enough men to provide security throughout the length of the demonstration, and we will be there throughout.”
The Minority Caucus in Parliament is organizing the protest in opposition to the governor of the Bank of Ghana and his two deputies.
The Caucus is requesting that the Central Bank’s governor and his deputies resign in the wake of the bank’s GH60 billion losses in the fiscal year 2022.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the protest would begin at the Obra Spot, go via Circle, Adabraka, and the Cedi House, and conclude at Independence Square.
