Stephen Ntim, National Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has ordered Regional Chairmen and party members to work diligently to ensure the party keeps power in the 2024 general election.
Mr Ntim charged the Regional Chairmen with this responsibility when he called an emergency meeting with them on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the party’s headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra.
The gathering examined recent events in the party as well as the way forward.
“I used the occasion to admonish them to keep focused and work hard to win their respective regions for the party in 2024. I have their utmost assurance and commitment to duty. Together, we can,” Mr. Ntim said.
Since the establishment of the Fourth Republic in 1992, power has alternated between the NPP and the NDC every eight years.
The NPP has established an objective of ‘breaking the 8’ ahead of the 2024 election to break this jinx by holding power in 2024.
The NPP Election Committee has set November 4, 2023 as the date for the presidential primary.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, former Minister of Food and Agriculture Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Member of Parliament for Mampong, Francis Addai-Nimo are the four flagbearer aspirants in the presidential primary.
