Prof. Peter Twumasi, Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), has revealed that neither Stonebwoy nor Shatta Wale had reserved the Accra Sports Stadium for a performance.
In an interview with Ghanaweb, he stated that both artists are still in the process of signing the contract for the stadium to be utilized for a performance, but no decision has been made as to who would receive the contract.
“If the sports authority is helping them and they are creating problems for me? The two of them, none of them has a contract with us [National Sports Authority]. We are just helping to support their industry. We are yet to sign a contract, so don’t bother too much. For now, they are going through the process of getting the contract with the NSA, it’s not even done yet,” he said.
“If you write a letter and request for a space then we will look at it and see whether we can offer you or not but we don’t have authority over what we can offer and what we cannot. We are thinking that stadium is a multi-purpose in use and over the years we have been
“We’ll be accommodating them [artists] piece by piece so there won’t be any controversies unless they’re just using it to promote their shows,” he continued.
Shatta Wale has expressed his displeasure with Stonebwoy’s decision to have his yearly concert on the same day as his event at the same location.
Shatta Wale previously stated that his Freedom Wave event will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium from the 20th to the 25th of December.
Days later, Stonebwoy announced his annual end-of-year performance at the same location on December 22nd.
This situation has caused consternation, as Shatta claims that despite being the first to announce and book the stadium for his five-day event, he has been requested to reschedule until next year.
