Black Sherif, a Ghanaian worldwide celebrity, was named ‘West African Artiste of the Year’ at the 16th Headies Awards 2023.
This incredible achievement cements his position as a dominant force in West African music, with his distinct style and narrative distinguishing him apart.
The category of ‘West African Artiste of the Year’ honored performers of West African heritage who made major contributions to the continent’s music landscape during the year.
The artist outperformed fellow compatriots Camidoh, Gyakie, and others from West Africa.
When he accepted the medal, Black Sherif thanked his admirers all around Africa, especially those in his hometown of Konongo Zongo.
“Thank you so much to the fans, to the listeners. Thank you Headies, thank you Nigeria Thank you Ghana, thank you Konongo Zongo, I love you,” he said.
Afrobeats singers such as Ayra Starr, Asake, Rema, Victony, KCee, Oxlade, Johnny Drille, Blaqbonez, Spyro, Seyi Vibez, and FireBoyDML performed at the 16th Headies Awards.
The Headies Awards 2023, hosted in Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center, recognized African music’s rising popularity on the world stage.
