Wendy Shay, a Ghanaian singer, has questioned detractors who believe Ghanaian singers cannot fill larger stadiums while playing overseas and win Grammy Awards.
Her reply came only days after Asake, a prominent Nigerian performer, broke history by filling the 20,000-seater O2 Arena.
Asake’s accomplishment aroused debate over how Ghanaian musicians had done nothing of the type.
Wendy Shay stated that the alleged achievement is not the bar for successful musicians.
On Sunday, August 27, the Uber driver crooner tweeted that even the best performers, like as Bob Marley and Michael Jackson, did not win Grammys or fill the O2 Arena.

“Why has Filling 02 and winning Grammys become the standard to measure the success of an artist?
“Bob Marley and 2Pac are successful musicians but have never won a Grammy. Let Ghanaian musicians breathe! Ghana, wake up!” her tweet reads.

Fameye, a Ghanaian music phenomenon, has also expressed his dissatisfaction with the music industry’s widespread lack of true support and investment.
He claims that Ghanaians living outside the country do not attend their performances.
