Black Sherif, a singer from Ghana, was detained at Kotoka International Airport (KIA). On the evening of July 19, 2023, he was taken into custody.
Black Sherif reportedly transported from the airport to the police headquarters in Accra due to a contract violation regarding a July 4 show that he failed to honor in Greece, according to reporting by Kofi TV.
The document went on to say that the artist was detained at the airport because he had been added to the stop list following a client complaint that led to his inclusion on the list.
“We called our sources and it appears it is due to a contractual issue he has to play on a cruise ship in Greece having charged US$40,000 and receiving half of the amount,” Kofi Adomah, host on Kofi TV stated.
He stated in the video below that the performer “was due to receive the balance after playing the show.”
The squad of Black Sherif has yet to respond to the report.
The 21-year-old musician, real name Mohammed Ismail Sherif, is returning home after performing at some of the most prestigious music festivals in the United States and Europe this summer.
Among other places, he has performed at AfroNation Portugal, Wireless Festival UK, Couleur Cafe Festival in Belgium, SummerJam Festival in Köln, and Openair Frauenfeld in Switzerland.
