Livingstone Etse Satekla, professionally known as Stonebwoy, a celebrated Ghanaian afro pop, dancehall, and reggae singer, recently stated that it is not mandatory for every musician to take on corporate social obligations (CSRs).
In an interview with Asaase Radio’s Yaad Settingz, King Lagazee revealed, “As an artist who loves to be socially active, I don’t only use my music and voice, but I plan towards practicalising solutions to certain problems, but not everyone is obligated to do the same.”
The award-winning musician went on to say that it is critical to appreciate everyone’s life. “This does not mean that I have so much in abundance, but this is coming from the core that makes me human,” he said.
The singer is well-known for his strong stance against illicit mining, sometimes known as “galamsey.” He has spoken out against Pra River pollution and its harmful impact on water supplies for six communities in the Shama district of the Western Region.
Stonebwoy supplied 40,000-liter capacity mechanised boreholes for four of the six townships through his Livingstone Foundation. The boreholes provide clean water to eight villages and can be connected to individual residences.
