The Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA), Professor Ken Attafuah, says he is unafraid of the various challenges and insults from critics.
Prof. Attafuah said in an exclusive interview on Citi TV’s Breakfast Daily on Friday, June 30, that he stays focused and unshakable in his dedication to his work and has no regrets.
Prof. Attafuah stated that insults have no effect on him and are only diversions from the crucial business at hand.
Prof Attafuah’s term at the NIA has been marked by notable accomplishments and dramatic transformations. Under his direction, the authority successfully developed a statewide biometric identification system, allowing millions of citizens to receive their identification cards.
This effort not only reduced administrative processes, but it also improved national security and made important services more accessible to all individuals.
Such transformative endeavors, however, have not been without their share of difficulties and obstacles. Prof. Attafuah has encountered criticism from a variety of sources, with some criticizing the national identification system’s effectiveness and efficiency. Prof. Attafuah added that despite the flood of insults and bad comments aimed at him, he has chosen to remain focused and undaunted.
“I am focused on doing the right thing, the best way possible, everything that I do, I do it to the best of my ability. So I am convinced that no other person could have done it better and if anybody can do it better, it will only be to a notch higher.
“What we have done at NIA, it far supersedes the understanding of those who were talking. Somebody said they could have done this for 50 million cedis but they had no clue what a national identification is about…those insulting me, first of all, I try not to listen to insults. Anybody insulting me has no clue who I am.
Prof. Attafuah underlined the significance of looking at the broader picture, adding that criticism will always be present, but what truly important is the positive impact he is working to create.
