Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu South Constituency, has called for the closure of schools in the constituency that have been impacted by water.
Klikor, Agbozume, and Aflao are among the places affected.
Over the last three days, parts of the Ketu South Constituency have been hit by terrible rainstorms and flooding, displacing over 1,000 residents.

approximately the previous three days, severe rainstorms and flooding have displaced approximately 1,000 people in the Ketu South Constituency.
She stated on the Citi Breakfast Show on Monday, June 12, 2023, “I think what we should do is close down the schools in the three traditional areas affected by flooding.” Klikor, Agbozume, and Aflao are their names. When these children are going through floodwaters, anything can happen, in my opinion. It’s terrifying since I was born on the beach and my house is also on the beach, yet I’m frightened of water. “What I saw this weekend scared me even more.”

The Ketu South MP stated that the amount of water visible on the roads was the same as the amount of water seen in people’s apartments, “so they cannot even sleep in their rooms.”

“And the classrooms have water there too, so I am at wit ends and the churches. There is nowhere you can even send them to perch until the water recedes, perhaps maybe the Municipal Assembly hall that is not flooded. We could move the people to lay their heads until we find some form of shelter for them.”

She emphasized that she was afraid that with the amount of water on the roads, someone could fall and break a bone while walking because the majority of the roads were not tarred.

“So we have a serious situation where the lagoons and the wetlands are all overflowing into the community and there is no way the water can go into the sea,” she added.
