Akwaboah Sr.’s family holds a week-long memorial service.

A memorial service was organized by the family of the late, famed Highlife musician Kwadwo Akwaboah, also known as Akwaboah Snr.
On May 16, 2023, Akwaboah Sr. passed away following a battle with illness.
The function was held at Trede, which is off the Obuasi road, on May 30.
To mark the one-week commemoration and to express their sorrow for the demise of the cherished iconic Highlife performer, many people traveled to Accra to be with the family.
The late Akwaboah Snr.’s son, Akwaboah Jnr., posted images and videos from the celebration with the caption “Akwaboah Lives On.”

Akwaboah Jr. was seen in the pictures with two people who appeared to be family members, all of whom were dressed in black.
To mourn with Kwadwo Akwaboah’s family, friends and admirers were seen congregating at the Trede Funeral Grounds.
Kwadwo Akwaboah was a talented vocalist and pianist before he tragically passed away.
Despite going blind, he continued to play the piano excellently and was quite proud of his son Akwaboah Jnr.
He was well renowned for such classic tunes as “Awerekyekyere” and “Hini Me.”
