The Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange project in Accra has been put on hold as a result of negotiations between the government and the International Monetary Fund, according to Antwi Owusu Sekyere, resident engineer at FAS Consult Limited.
Following completion of the project, the traffic at Circle will be improved, and two flyovers will be built to facilitate continuous traffic flow along Ring Road West. This will lessen congestion at the intersection of Ring Road West and Winneba/Graphic Road.
The project’s work is set to pick back up in May, according to Antwi Owusu Sekyere, FAS Consult Limited’s resident engineer in a statement to Citi News.
“Once the government finishes negotiations with the IMF, we will come back, but it has been suspended. We have skeletal staff there, they do watering, and then they reshape the road anytime it goes bad.
“We are hoping to come back in May, by that time the government would have finished negotiations with all the other parties.”
