The Ghanaian rapper Medikal has praised his workmate Lyrical Joe. The pair worked together on Lyrical Joe’s self-titled debut album.
A private listening was held in Accra the night before the project’s release on Friday, March 17, and it was made public the following day. Participants in the music industry, including artists like Medikal and Bosom P Yung, were present at the event.
The Young Warlock, as he is lovingly known, teased some tracks from the record as part of the event. But after Lyrical Joe aired the Medikal-starring film “Judas,” the AMG Business signee felt the urge to remark briefly.
In front of the group, Medikal declared that he had recently grown to love the artist’s creations. When asked, Medikal said he was sorry for all the times he had left Joe off his list of the Top 5 Ghanaian rappers.
“If I have ever been placed in a spot where I have been asked to mention my Top 5 rappers, and I didn’t mention your name, I apologise for it. I listened to some of the songs and was like ‘yo’ this guy can actually rap,” he said.
Medikal urged people to join Lyrical Joe in his fight to protect rap. Lyrical Joe claims that his “Picture Album” is a way for him to share his journey with the world.
A-list Ghanaian musicians including E.L, Efya, Darko Vibes, A-Q, and Sefa are included on the 15-track album. Rapper of the Year in the 2022 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) is Lyrical Joe.
This year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards feature a competition for Best Lyrical Performance between Medikal and Lyrical Joe (VGMAs).
