Stonebwoy, a Ghanaian dancehall artist who recently made his debut on the famed Breakfast Club show on New York-based Power FM, believes that a guy assuming financial responsibility is part of African culture.
Stonebwoy went on to say that African men expect respect and submission from their wives in exchange for their position as protector and provider. He prefers ladies who listen and feel the need to counsel him on problems, according to him.
“If you’re over the top, I see you as another man,” he explained on The Breakfast Club”I believe it’s incredibly cool to be submissive, and I’m very attracted to it…
I admire women who are not abusive in any way, shape, or form.
For me, there is beauty in that.
It’s like you’re a woman, but if you go overboard, I perceive you as another man.” He did, however, clarify that a guy should not have abusive influence over a woman simply because she is subservient.”I mean, they (men) have to be in command, because that’s what a man needs to be as far as I’m aware.
It’s not that the women are dull, but you know, we want to have women who are courteous, obedient, supporting, who consult with us…
“In general, men like to be consulted, and I believe that is true for African men,” he explained. He also shed further light on how men express their love by being providers who support their wives.

“A man’s submission demonstrates love.
Submission, according to the African man’s discourse, will be him taking care of and listening to the woman’s worries.
Everything she wants to do and how she wants to do it.
For me, it’s attention because women crave it and men must perceive them as meek and humble,” he continued.
