The Federal Capital Territory’s Abuja High Court in Maitama has granted Anita and her estranged husband, Paul Okoye, a divorce.

You might recall that Anita Okoye and Paul Okoye, a singer in the group P-Square, were married for eight years until the former filed for divorce, citing a host of issues.

Anita Okoye cited five key reasons for divorcing her husband: infidelity, a fabricated separation, being an absent parent, fraud, and other difficult circumstances.

According to Punch, she consequently demanded numerous of her ex-opulent husband’s homes as well as a $20,000 monthly compensation.

Anita claimed that she paid N10 million as part of an arrangement with her husband to be allocated space in the mall he had recently constructed in Lekki, Lagos, in her divorce petition, which was filed by her attorneys Ojonimi Akpe and Okutepa J.S.

Anita continued by charging Okoye of defrauding her of a plan to construct a mall that would have been owned jointly.

The petition which reads in part stated, “I know as a fact that the Petitioner founded a company called TannkCo in 2019. That the Petitioner and the Respondent agreed to build a mall where TannkCo would have its main offices, and the Petitioner contributed N10,000,000.00 (Ten Million Naira) for the purchase of the land and the building of the mall. That I know as a fact that the Respondent, upon completion of the mall, reneged on the agreement and failed to give TannkCo a space in the mall.”

Anita apparently failed to provide evidence to support each and every allegation in her petition to the court, so she decided to drop them and settle.

The dispute was decided by the court on October 20, 2022, awarding the parties joint custody of the children. However, the petitioner did not get any cash settlement or alimony in exchange for their legal claim.

When both were undergraduates at the University of Abuja in 2004, they crossed paths. In Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on March 22, 2014, they got married.

Together, they have three children: Andre, born in 2013, and Nathan and Nadia, twins, both born in 2017.
