Iyanya, the king of afrobeat, has discussed his difficult 2021, including how he had to go from begging to getting gigs.

Iyanya, a musician, claimed on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, that December 2021 was particularly difficult for him since he had to beg to perform at gigs just so he could be seen.

This disclosure was made on Twitter by the seasoned Afrobeats artist. He said in the tweet that things have improved since 2022 because he now wakes up alert to perform at several gigs every day.“Last year December 2021, I performed at 3 shows, one paid and I begged to perform at 2 just to be seen. In 2022 December, I wake up every day to alerts for shows, haven’t had this kind of busy December since 2017. 20+ shows in one month. God Thank you” the Tweet reads.

Iyanya thanked Afrobeats icon, Kizz Daniel, for penning “Like” and giving it to him in another tweet.

Also thanking Davido, who was a featured artist on his song “Like,” for his support, the hitmaker said as much.

Iyanya was in a grateful frame of mind as he expressed gratitude to Don Jazzy Ubi Franklin, Ayra Starr, and his supporters for their assistance.

Iyanya is among the most well-known artists in Afrobeats due to the success of his smash singles, “Kukere,” “Your Waist,” and “Mr. Oreo.”

Iyanya’s 2022 single, “Like,” featuring Davido and Kizz Daniel, did well on the charts. Additionally, he issued the well-received EP “The 6th Wave.”
