Andre Ayew, captain of the Black Stars, has written a heartfelt message following Ghana’s exit from the group stages of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Andre Ayew, Ghana’s captain, scored the team’s first goal against Portugal, but he was chastised after missing a crucial penalty against Uruguay.

Although Ghana’s World Cup exit was disappointing, the Black Stars captain stated that he had to deal with difficult and heartbreaking issues.

“It has been very difficult moments for me in the last few days,” he says. My godson died the morning before the Portugal game, and my daughter was also rushed to the hospital following the Uruguay game.”

The full statement by Andre Ayew is available below.

Our final group match result was not what we had hoped for in the tournament, but it turned out that way.

I am extremely proud of all of my teammates for displaying outstanding team spirit both on and off the field for our country Ghana.

Personally, I’ve had some very difficult moments in the last few days. My godson died the morning before the Portugal game, and my daughter was also rushed to the hospital following the Uruguay game. She is improving, thanks to the Almighty Allah.

These trying times will motivate me to return stronger and better in the future, and I believe the Black Stars will as well.

In our true Ghanaian spirits, WE WILL NEVER SAY DIE, UNTIL THE BONES ARE ROTTEN, WO KUM APEM A, APEM BEBA,

Thank you all for your prayers and unwavering support. ????????

REST IN PEACE ADAM ????????????
