Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, better known by his stage name Spryo, is a Nigerian artist who has openly shared his decision to live a celibate lifestyle.
The musical sensation recently shared on Instagram his inner struggle with having sex before being married. He acknowledged that while he enjoyed having sex before getting married, he also struggled with guilt.
The “Who is your guy” hitmaker claims that after much thought and prayer, he made the decision to cut off any and all influences that may tempt him to return to that way of life.
“Sex felt good till I could no longer bear struggling with my conscience,” Spyro captioned a video of his new song ‘My pledge.
“Every time I “FORNICATED” knowing I ain’t married to the person, I feel troubled, like a part of me gets taken right after.
“I struggled for a while but I kept praying for strength and when the time came I disengaged from all lingering connects at the time …it hasn’t been easy especially when I travel and these clean girls begin to get funny around me and promoters never make it easy too but now they know but yea I am keeping this bed for ONE now,”
He continued.
Spyro shares a more in-depth account of his journey and decisions in his most recent song, “My Pledge,” where he declares his intention to reserve his bed going forward for just one person.
The crooner declared earlier this year that he wanted to wed a beautiful woman who loves Jesus, jokingly referring to such a woman as a “Jesus’ baddie.”
In an interview with Hip TV in Nigeria, he declared, “A Jesus bad guy is my ideal. My spec is to know God but to be a badass. You know God, so don’t settle for mediocrity. Both your appearance and your speech should be polished. The singer advised doing what “bad girls do,” but just for your spouse.
