Mavis Hawa Koomson, the MP for Awutu Senya East, has promised to make sure the election in her constituency is devoid of violence.
During the 2020 elections, there was gun violence in the Awutu Senya East constituency at the Steps to Christ Center. Several people were shot, almost causing the poll to be halted.
Following a stroll around some of the constituency’s main thoroughfares, the MP reaffirmed her resolve to upholding tranquility and guaranteeing a poll devoid of violence in December.
Since the 2020 event, the MP has made it clear on multiple venues that she is committed to ensuring a free and fair election process in 2024.
Ahead of the elections, the MP preached peace to a throng of people as he walked around Kasoa’s main streets.
During her speech, Hawa Koomson reaffirmed her commitment to a nonviolent and peaceful election.
“2024 is an election year and so as NPP faithful, we are gearing up for the big event. On Monday, the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will be visiting the constituency to commission some projects. These are all some of the good things about the NPP. I will be filing my nomination so I needed to gather the NPP supporters ahead of that day. But I must also say that as MP I am committed to ensuring peaceful elections in December.
“Even if my opponent comes with violence, I will resist to ensure a peaceful process. We are ready for elections 2024 and it must come without any violence or confrontation. This is because I am the incumbent and my opponents are the ones who want to unseat me, but I remain steadfast to ensure that I win the elections hands down,” Hawa Koomson said.
Hawa Koomson reiterated her commitment to a peaceful and nonviolent election during her remarks.
“The people of Kasoa are blessed to have Mavis Hawa Koomson as their MP because she is doing a great job. This was a woman who was heading the Ministry of Special Development Initiative and she ensured that every constituency got an ambulance.
“She was successful in that Ministry promoting President Akufo Addo to again make her the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development. She is someone who has transformed Kasoa and she deserves a chance to go to Parliament again and bring good things to the people of Awutu Senya East,” Member of Parliament for Damongo Abu Jinapor said.
