NDC: The current voter registration is ill and unfit for the December elections.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC), which is in opposition, has declared that the polls on December 7 cannot be conducted with the present voter registration.

The voter registration is riddled with errors and anomalies, claims Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer, Deputy Director of Elections and IT.

The register, according to Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer, is unfit for use in polling.

“There is more to it than what we are thinking. In fact, the register, as we speak now, is completely sick. It cannot be used for any purpose whatsoever, because you can have some consequences where you have the data completely quadrupled.

“There is no polling station that is going to have more than 700 [voters]. But you can have a polling station where you have a register reporting a transfer of more than 1,000 [voters]. It doesn’t make sense. There is something wrong with it [the voters’ register].”

On Aug.ust 27, the NDC sent a letter to the EC requesting an urgent meeting to address inconsistencies it discovered in the temporary registration given to political parties for the exhibition exercise.
