Stonebwoy, a Ghanaian Afro Dancehall performer, has criticised the Grammys again over a website post that named ten significant artists in the growth of Ghanaian Hiplife but left out his name.
He claims that removing him from such a list is a mistake, given his contributions to the genre. Stonebwoy also mentioned other major figures in Hiplife, like as Prince Bright, BukBak, Okyeame Kwame, and Praye, claiming that their absence from the list is a disservice to Ghanaian music.
Stonebwoy, reacting to Pop Culture Journalist Olele Salvador, emphasised that the removal of these influential singers is a fundamental error that harms Ghanaian music.
The Grammys article addresses Ghana’s considerable contribution to the global music environment, particularly the Hiplife genre, which combines hip-hop and traditional Ghanaian rhythms. It emphasises the importance of pioneering musicians and producers in establishing Hiplife, as well as the emergence of subgenres like as azonto and asakaa.
While some fans support Stonebwoy’s criticism, others believe it was unnecessary.
