The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has claimed that the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration has fulfilled 80% of the pledges made in their 2020 platform.

During a Sunday, August 25, media appearance, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the government’s commitment to keeping its word.

He said that National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama had only kept 28% of his 2012 manifesto promises, and he compared this accomplishment to Mahama’s record.

Stressing that the NPP government has a better record, Dr. Bawumia cited Mahama’s purported inability to fulfill 203 of 280 pledges stated in his 2012 platform.

He said, “I think that we have a very pretty record in terms of honouring our promises. We’ve done some work to look at our 2016 manifesto, and what proportion of those manifestos we’ve honoured, and 83 percent have been honoured. And when you look at the 2020 manifesto, 2020, even in the midst of all these crises, we are fulfilling or we’ve fulfilled 80 percent of our 2020 promises in our manifesto.”

“My opponent in his 2012 manifesto when he became the president, he only fulfilled 28 percent of his 2012 manifesto, 280 promises, he didn’t fulfil 203 of the 280 promises. So, I think we have a better record as far as fulfilling promises.”
