Livingstone Etse Satekla, also known as Stonebwoy, a multi-award-winning Ghanaian singer and songwriter, has revealed that he attended classes at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) with his bodyguard for three weeks before being allowed to attend independently.
He claimed that this agreement was created because his security was concerned about his safety, but after three weeks, he was allowed to attend lessons on his own.
Stonebwoy reflected on his experience at GIMPA and discussed the support he got.
In an exclusive interview with Kafui Dey on GTV Breakfast Show, the reigning TGMA Artiste of the Year stated that his wife, Dr. Louisa Satekla, purchased and registered him for the GIMPA course.
Beyond his academic efforts, Stonebwoy discussed many elements of his life and career, including crucial collaborations, personal hobbies, and family values. He acknowledged his admiration for working with Beninese-French singer-songwriter Angélique Kidjo on his song ‘Manodzi,’ characterising the experience as extraordinary and thanking her for her unsolicited advice.
The president of Bhim Nation also exhibited an interest in fashion, citing his mother’s work as a seamstress, and stated that he personally adjusts the majority of his apparel. He also emphasised the need of taking one’s time with parenthood and family obligations, saying, ‘There are two things no one should rush into: becoming a dad and a family member.’
Stonebwoy proudly claimed that his children have more talent than he has and shared personal anecdotes such as winning a visa lottery at the age of 13 and spending three days in Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after a family accident on the freeway.
Stonebwoy underlined his individual appearance, adding that he puts grills on his teeth because he believes Ghana’s categorisation as the Gold Coast is essential.
