Election 2024: In secret, my NPP allies want to see their party fall, says Mahama

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has disclosed that certain NPP followers are quietly advocating for the party’s dissolution in the general elections of 2024.

He claims that a lot of NPP members think a small group of people are taking over the nation at the expense of the majority.

According to Mr. Mahama, these unhappy NPP members are demanding his return to the president so the party can restructure.

Speaking to party supporters over the weekend while on a visit of the Upper East, the NDC flagbearer disclosed, “In Ghana, a small family has captured everything; it is not the NPP.” Therefore, I can tell you that a lot of my NPP friends approach me and tell me, “NDC, you need to work hard and remove our party from power.”

“These are NPP people because the NPP has been captured by a small group of people. This is not Kufuor’s NPP. This is a different NPP. It has been hijacked by some people and so the democrats and others in NPP want the party to lose. So that they can go back into opposition and reorganise.”

In a comparison with other African countries, he described Ghana’s economic hardship as “worse off.”

“Many people in Nigeria are on the streets demonstrating. You heard about Kenya, Kenyan youth are demonstrating because opportunities are not opening up for them. The situation in Ghana is worse,” he said.
