At its oil refinery in Tema, the Sentuo Group is investing $980 million to increase its capacity to two million metric tons annually.
To show its dedication to adding value to Africa’s petroleum sector, the company also intends to expand its capacity by an extra three million metric tons annually in a second phase.
Sentuo Oil has been granted a complete operating license to operate as an oil refinery in Ghana.
When members of the African Refiners and Distributors Association and CITAC paid a courtesy call to the Sentuo Group’s executive chairman, Xu Ningquan, on Friday, July 19, 2024, in Tema, to discuss ways for Africa to develop and define its capabilities to add value to its crude resources.
Sentuo Oil Refinery Ltd. is deserving of heartfelt congratulations from the African Refiners and Distributors Association (ARDA) and CITAC, a specialized consulting organization in Africa’s downstream energy business, for the accomplishment.
Mr. Xu Ningquan stressed how Africa must reduce its crude oil exports and increase its imports of completed goods in order to attain energy self-reliance and economic sovereignty.
In return, Mr. Xu Ningquan received praise from Mr. Anibor Kragha, Executive Secretary of ARDA, for his unwavering dedication to establishing local refining capabilities throughout Africa.
He applauded the Sentuo Group’s audacious decision to invest in the Sentuo Oil Refinery, a move that will undoubtedly strengthen Africa’s energy industry.
Mr. Kragha went on to underline that the primary goal of ARDA is to establish favorable conditions that would support the growth of African oil refiners and draw capital to the sector.
CITAC, which offers an abundance of data and insights regarding the downstream energy sector in Africa, supports this objective.
