The Ghana Police Service is about to receive a 320-unit housing complex upon the commissioning of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the National Police Training School at Tesano, Accra, is when this commissioning will happen.
Commencing in 2018, the 320-unit housing project consists of seven blocks with two-bedroom apartments and thirteen blocks with three-bedroom apartments, with sixteen flats each block. The proposal includes kindergarten school, a multipurpose sports facility, and additional auxiliary residential facilities in addition to the residential units.
The Ministry of Works and Housing emphasized the importance of the project in a press release dated Friday, July 19, 2024, and signed by Elvis Adjei-Baah, the Public Relations Officer.
“The completion and utilization of this housing project will augment the government’s other housing programmes that are being rolled out to increase the residential stock of public service workers,” the statement read.
It stated that in addition to addressing the nation’s housing need, the initiative represents a significant effort by the government to improve the living conditions of public servants.
The Ministry underlined once more how important this program is to lessening the housing shortage in Ghana’s cities. “This project will eventually bridge the national housing deficit, which stands at 1.8 million housing units, and reduce accommodation challenges in our sprawling cities,” the announcement stated.
In addition to giving police officers much-needed housing, the new housing units will improve their welfare and help them carry out their jobs more successfully.
Members of the Ghana Police Service, government officials at senior levels, and other housing industry participants will be present at the commissioning event. It is expected to be a historic occasion that will demonstrate the government’s dedication to meeting the housing requirements of its people.
