Titus Glover, Greater Accra Regional Minister, described Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s historic visit to Ga state on Sunday, June 9, 2024, as a demonstration of unity and conflict resolution.
The visit, which began with a special durbar held by the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, is intended to cultivate friendship, collaboration, and community development between the two traditional kingdoms.
The visit comes after Ga Mantse’s recent participation in the 25th anniversary of Otumfuo’s accession to the throne and his 74th birthday festivities.
In an interview with ChannelOne News, Mr. Glover stressed the importance of friendship in chieftaincy and added that the visit highlights the need of fostering unity and issue solutions.
He claimed that Otumfuo’s long experience on the throne, as well as his ability to handle and resolve problems, made him an ideal tutor to the newly installed Ga Mantse.
Mr. Glover appreciated the Asantehene’s hospitality, stating that it is a tremendous honour for the Ga state to have such a well-known visitor.
He believes that this visit will enhance the links between the two kingdoms, benefiting both.
“Otumfuo has been on the throne, he has seen all that goes into the chieftaincy, how to organise people. How to resolve conflict. And I think that Nii Ga is just a few years away.
“That means he has something he can learn from and Asantehene does not visit anywhere at a time. For him to take a step to visit you in your kingdom or state, it means he has valued that relationship.”
