Former President John Dramani Mahama has received praise from Kwame Obeng Asare, a politician and entertainment pundit better known by his stage as A Plus, for his admirable handling of criticism while in government.
He said that despite the fact that he (A Plus) was among those who publicly criticized and attacked Mahama for perceived failures in his administration, the former president provided security guards for his protection.
The entertainment analyst also said that Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the current Minister of Works and Housing, received security protection at the same time that he was threatened for criticizing Mahama.
A Plus underlined in an interview with Angel FM that no one can put his life in danger for criticizing the Akufo-Addo-led administration.
He went on to say that nothing bad had occurred to him when he did the same to earlier administrations. Nobody has the ability to help me. We used to criticize John Mahama while we were following them [NPP], and he assigned National Security officers to watch out for us. We were blaming and condemning [Mahama] at the time for misbehavior. “Ask Oppong Nkrumah if Mahama didn’t give him security protection when he had an issue. So, I don’t care what people say,” he said in Twi. A Plus’s constant criticism of the current government has drawn criticism from several NPP members who find his statements offensive. The pundit has insisted that unless the proper actions are taken, he would keep holding the administration responsible.
