On Tuesday, Meta said that Messenger users would soon be able to exchange high-definition photographs, share larger files up to 100MB in size, and create shared albums in chats. Messenger is aiming these new features at those who frequently use services like Google Drive to share HD photos or make shared albums.
Users have not yet been able to group or arrange the photos in any way; they can only view a list of images shared in a particular Messenger discussion. Users may now organize photos from a recent spring break or grandma’s 80th birthday party by creating albums of images and videos in group conversations. In a group conversation, you must select several photos from your chat composer before selecting “create album.” Long-pressing a picture in a chat window also allows you to create an album. You can tap the “Add to album” option to add pictures to an already-existing album.Images and videos in an album can be seen, added to, removed from, and downloaded by any member of a conversation. In a chat, you can find an album by tapping the “Media” icon.
Since shared albums aren’t available on Meta’s other messaging platforms, WhatsApp and Instagram DMs, users are probably going to be happy to see them introduced.
Regarding the newly added HD photo-sharing feature, after choosing an image from the chat composer, users can now toggle a “HD” option. You can email several HD photographs by tapping on them. The new feature’s release coincides with Meta’s September 2023 rollout of support for HD images on WhatsApp.Additionally, Messenger now allows users to transfer Word, PDF, Excel, and zip files directly in chats, providing a substitute for email for delivering large files. Users can accomplish this by choosing a file from their device after hitting the add button in a chat.
Today also brings a new feature: users may now initiate conversations on the app without having to enter someone’s name or phone number by simply scanning a QR code. All Messenger users are starting to receive the new capabilities on their phones.
