Kofi Adjorlolo, a legendary Ghanaian actor, has expressed worry that Ghanaian TV stations are playing Nigerian movies without license on local channels.
The veteran actor, known for his illustrious career in Ghana’s film business, slammed the practice, claiming it was harmful to both the Ghanaian film industry and Nigerian filmmakers’ rights. In an interview with Hit FM’s DayBreak Hitz, Adjorlolo criticized Ghanaian television stations for freely showing Nigerian films, citing the harmful influence on Ghanaian actors and the business as a whole.
He voiced dissatisfaction with the approach, pointing out that it causes Nigerian filmmakers to overlook Ghanaian performers because their films are easily disseminated in Ghana.
While filming in Nigeria, Adjorlolo revealed that many Nigerian producers are dissatisfied with Ghanaian TV stations and streaming services that illegally post Nigerian films.
He stressed the financial consequences for Ghanaian players and encouraged local channels to stop the illicit distribution, emphasizing the necessity of following international copyright and intellectual property regulations.
Adjorlolo’s words emphasize the importance of maintaining copyright restrictions and defending intellectual property rights in the entertainment industry.
Unauthorized broadcasting of Nigerian films violates not only the rights of Nigerian filmmakers, but it also jeopardizes the integrity of lawful content distribution networks.
