In order to avert a possible calamity brought on by the elevated levels, the Ghana Water Limited has declared its intention to release water from the Weija Dam.
In a letter dated Thursday, March 7, 2024, GWL stated that the water level at the Weija Dam has been gradually rising since the rainy season, which calls for regulated spilling to prevent threatening people and property.
The water corporation stated that although the actual rate of spillage would depend on the incoming water flow into the dam, it would start out slowly to minimize its impact downstream.

In order to protect the dam from the possibility of collapse, GWL stressed that the spilling would continue as long as the water level in the dam continued to rise.
GWL apologized for any inconveniences that the spilled operation may have caused.Look for the statement below.
