The seasoned Ghanaian Highlife singer Samuel Owusu has counseled young people who wish to go into music as a career to take up a side gig in addition to their current pursuits.During an interview, Amansan Krakye, the singer of “Abusua Kyiri Ka,” who released his debut album in 1992, claimed that based on his extensive experience in the music industry, he would advise anyone relying solely on music to avoid disappointment.
“I’ll advise any young person who wants to do music to go ahead and do it but they shouldn’t rely solely on the music that they are doing.”
“Apart from music I have other businesses so whenever someone comes to me that they want to do music, the first question I ask is, are you educated and what’s your level of education?” He asked.
The well-known crooner continued,, “Apart from that I ask them if they’ve learned a trade because the bottom line is that I always admonish them not to depend on music alone.
“They can go ahead and pursue their music career but they should find a job or side hustle that they can rely on because with music alone they might end up disappointed”.
