The people residing in Koforidua, the capital of the Eastern Region, are happy with the state of development the government is working on in preparation for Koforidua’s hosting of the 67th Independence Day celebration.
Old, dilapidated roads that had been abandoned for a number of years have undergone extensive makeovers, and broken traffic signals and streetlights have all been replaced.
A few weeks ago, the start of construction on the main road shocked the residents and other users of the Koforidua Mamfe road when they woke up.
Hundreds of commuters who traveled that stretch of road endured a miserable existence due to this horrible and abandoned road.
Due to the hazardous, pothole-filled road’s apparent difficulty during the night, transport unions were compelled to take the Adukrom via Nkurakan route to Koforidua, which resulted in longer travel times.
Although drivers were relieved that the road was receiving attention again, word quickly spread that the regional center would host Ghana’s 67th Independence Day celebrations on March 6th, which is why the road needed extensive repair.
Alassane Dramane Ouattara, the president of Ivory Coast, is scheduled to be the anniversary’s special guest of honor among several other well-known dignitaries.
Because of this, the regional capital has been made more beautiful. Major thoroughfares in and around the Koforidua Youth Resource Center, the site of the 67th Anniversary Celebrations, are receiving asphalt overlays, and street lights are being fixed.
Seth Kwame Acheampong, the Eastern Regional Minister and head of the local organizing committee, has been providing more information about the celebrations, which have several events scheduled.
“We’re preceding today’s event with the hoisting of flags of our nation, next is football much, Monday is a clean Ghana day.”
With their equipment on full display, 21 contingents comprising multiple security agencies, 11 regional schools, 16 regional capitals, and 18 groupings will be present at the grounds. These staff members have been actively practicing for the celebrations for several weeks now.
All of the hotels in the regional center are reserved, and bars and eateries are getting ready to host new customers.
Before the festivities, a few locals also discussed their opinions on the infrastructural advancements they had been witnessing.
“I’m impressed, you could see that everywhere something is going on, fixing streetlights, patching potholes, all is good, but why should we wait if we have the means to start cleaning our house,” he asked.
“I’m grateful to the road network in town,” another resident said.
restaurant and bar are prepared to give every guest an unforgettable 67th Independence Anniversary experience.
