Christiana Twene, a contemporary Ghanaian gospel singer better known by her stage name Obaapa Christy, recently disclosed that she didn’t bother to check the results of her Basic Education Certificate Examination after finishing.
The “Hyebre Sesafo” crooner claims that she did not attempt to go back to school after the results were announced because she anticipated failing every subject.
The gospel music diva stated in an exclusive interview with Roselyn Felli on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning.
“I reached JHS, but it’s not that I stopped; I wrote BECE, but I didn’t go for the results.
Responding to whether she passed her exams, Christiana said; “I didn’t even go for it to see whether I passed or not because I foresaw that I wouldn’t pass.
Not that the singer didn’t study; rather, she believed that even if she did, she wouldn’t succeed since she had fostered the belief that her academic abilities were lacking, which made learning challenging. She consequently focused her energies on singing and praying at school since she found them to be enjoyable.

“When we visit a colleague who is sick, then I’m asked to pray, or I’ll be called to lead praise and worship during Wednesday and Friday church services or a teacher would send me to buy something. Those were the things that made me like going to school,”
The performer highlighted.
Obaapa expressed her dislike of dictation sessions in the classroom in addition to her dislike of studies. Nevertheless, given how adept at observing things at her age, Obaapa Christy believes she would have performed better academically if she had set herself up to study in-depth.
The musician says she doesn’t regret what she did in school because she thinks there are other paths to success besides education. She is an advocate of formal education, but she also feels that nothing compares to God’s favor.
“My success is based on the grace of God that located me, and so I don’t joke with such grace,” she said
