Ahoufe Patri, an actress from Ghana, has caused quite a stir on social media with her recent candid comments regarding frequency of adultery in partnerships.
The actress questioned the underlying reasons for marriage in a video that was posted on social media, asking,
“Are you guys forced to get married? Do they put a gun to your head and match you to the altar?”
This thought-provoking question sparked a discussion about the difficulties of marriage vows.
After making her observations, Ahoufe Patri talked about her experience of being courted by a married man who lavished her with attention. Thinking back on this experience, she said,
“So you marry in order to save your life, but you don’t really want to get married. What’s happening? Ok, so this man started giving me attention in December. Pressure paa, the love bombing.”
But the actress didn’t waver in her resolve to avoid being in a relationship based on lies and adultery. Declaring her autonomy and moral rectitude, she said, “Hm But unfortunately for him, I’m too old for that. So I saw right through it.”
Ahoufe Patric made a pointed observation in closing, emphasizing the effects of adultery on a person’s spiritual health.
“Tell me why today is his wife’s birthday. Hey, so you are married, you people will not go to heaven, bye-bye?”
She concluded, stoking the raging controversy over the morality of marriage and faithfulness.
